Sugar Pop 2 – Slots Sequel with a Couple Added Features

Over four years ago, Betsoft released Sugar Pop slots, which is a colorful game that’s bursting with candy. Apparently this has been a big hit, because Betsoft just released a sequel called Sugar Pop 2: Double Dipped.

Given how unique of a game the original Sugar Pop is, it seems the hard to improve upon the formula. But I’m going to look at what has changed from the first game to the new online slot.

Also note that you can play Sugar Pop 2 at Drake Casino.

A Larger Grid

As I’ve covered before, the bigger grid can create more fun in slots games. And Sugar Pop 2 has a very big grid at 7×7.

Compare this to the original Sugar Pop, which has a 5×5 grid. While the latter is also pretty big in comparison to other slots, Sugar Pop 2 offers 24 more spaces. The end result is that you have a giant space for which you can form winning combinations.

Double Up Feature

Double-up options (a.k.a. gamble features) are becoming increasingly common in slot machines. These give you the chance to double your payout following any win.

In Sugar Pop 2, you have the option to gamble either 50% or 100% of your payout. You then select whether a coin will land on heads or tails.

What’s the Same with Sugar Pop 2?

Betsoft opted not to rock the boat too much with their sequel. Sugar Pop 2 has a number of elements in common with the first game, including cluster pays, exploding wins, leveling up, and special candies.

Exploding wins (a.k.a. rolling reels) is another common feature in many new slots. This sees symbols from winning combinations disappear so that symbols from above can fall into their place.

The level-up aspect is a less common feature that’s seen in both Sugar Pop and Sugar Pop 2. The idea is that you collect Level Up symbols to advance up the ladder and earn special candies.

These candies perform special actions that boost your chances of winning. For example, one of the candies is a cannon that shoots extra symbols onto the reels that help you win.

Overall Verdict

Sugar Pop 2 isn’t drastically different from Betsoft’s first candy-filled game. In fact, their backgrounds even look very similar to each other. But what has changed includes the bigger grid and additional double-up feature.

If you liked the first Sugar Pop, then this game also includes a number of aspects that make it worth playing – including everything that made the original such a hit.
