And Lopez described the story during a recent appearance on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.<\/p>\n

“She won like $2.4 million on the slots \u2013 this was years ago, this was like 10 years ago. My mother\u2019s a huge gambler,\u201d Lopez explained. \u00a0The 45-year-old singer and actress, who isn’t much of a gambler herself, learned of the big win through a late-night phone call. Interestingly enough, Lopez thought that something was wrong, only to learn much differently. “I knew something had happened. I said, \u2018Ma, what\u2019s wrong?\u2019 and she said, \u2018I won $2.4 million,'” Lopez said. “She started screaming at the top of her lungs. Crazy. And I was like, \u2018What?\u2019. On the slots of all things. She described the whole moment, took forever, play by play: \u2018And then the seven came down but it passed.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

It’s interesting that Rodriguez is such a big gambler, given that her daughter also took a gamble with her future by pursuing the entertainment industry. Rodriguez and her husband, David Lopez, initially frowned on their daughter for taking up this career, believing that it would be hard for her to make it as a Hispanic. We now know today that the Latino beauty has more than defied the odds while amassing her $300 million fortune.<\/p>\n
