Jennifer Lopez’s Mom won $2.4m Slots Jackpot at Borgata

jennifer-lopze-mom-slots-jackpotThey always say the rich keep getting richer, and Jennifer Lopez’s mom certainly exemplifies this since she once won a $2.4 million slots jackpot at the Borgata Hotel & Casino. Guadalupe Rodríguez, whose daughter Jennifer has a $300 million fortune, scooped the $2.4m prize during a 2004 Atlantic City trip. And Lopez described the story during a recent appearance on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.

“She won like $2.4 million on the slots – this was years ago, this was like 10 years ago. My mother’s a huge gambler,” Lopez explained.  The 45-year-old singer and actress, who isn’t much of a gambler herself, learned of the big win through a late-night phone call. Interestingly enough, Lopez thought that something was wrong, only to learn much differently. “I knew something had happened. I said, ‘Ma, what’s wrong?’ and she said, ‘I won $2.4 million,'” Lopez said. “She started screaming at the top of her lungs. Crazy. And I was like, ‘What?’. On the slots of all things. She described the whole moment, took forever, play by play: ‘And then the seven came down but it passed.’”

It’s interesting that Rodriguez is such a big gambler, given that her daughter also took a gamble with her future by pursuing the entertainment industry. Rodriguez and her husband, David Lopez, initially frowned on their daughter for taking up this career, believing that it would be hard for her to make it as a Hispanic. We now know today that the Latino beauty has more than defied the odds while amassing her $300 million fortune.

It’s also worth adding that we can only assume some of Rodriguez’s slots bankroll comes from her wildly successful daughter. That said, she should have more than enough money to keep pursuing slots jackpots into the far future.
